CLUEFRAME - Hints and Setup

Dear puzzle friend!

To open the ClueFrame you need to know a 4-digit code. The default code is 1111.
If you received Clueframe as a present, ask the person who gave you the ClueFrame for the hint to the 4-digit code.

Under the tab "SETUP" you will find the quickest way to open the ClueFrame to insert a photo and personalize the numbers, e.g. if you want to give the ClueFrame as a present.

Do you need a little help with the ClueFrame? Under the tab "HINTS" you will find hints that will take you further.

The tab "RESET" shows you how to reassemble the ClueFrame to its initial state.

SPOILER ALERT!

This section is for those who want to insert a photo without solving the puzzles and use Clueframe as a gift.

To open the ClueFrame without solving, you will need a pointy metal object, for example:

Sim card eject pin
Paper clip
Needle
A piece of metal wire

Warning: DO NOT use a plastic or wooden object as it can break and get stuck.

1. Adjust the switches to the position shown in the photo.

2. Insert a pointy object into the slot as shown in the picture and push it until a small key with the plug symbol will appear on the left side of the frame.

3. Insert the key with the plug symbol into the slot above the socket and push it in. The "OFF" label in the window under the socket will change to "ON".

4. Turn the frame over. Rotate the key so that the arrow points to "ON," then pull it out.

5. Remove the frame cover and all layers underneath.

6. Insert the desired photo. You can use a photo in either horizontal or vertical orientation. Put back the inner layers and the cover. See the video below.

ATTENTION: To open the ClueFrame the player MUST KNOW the 4-digit secret code.
The default combintation is 1111, but you can set a personal 4-digit code, e.g. use a memorable date.
This means that at the start of the game you have to give a hint for the 4-digit code (the personalized date or the default 1111 code if you haven't set up your own code). Otherwise the person will not be able to solve the puzzles.

1. Make sure the ON/OFF key which holds all the layers of the frame is removed.

2. Remove the blocking element situated in the center between the digit slots.

3. Insert the tool into the hole as shown in the photo and push another key out.

4. Pull the protruding part as shown in the picture. Repeat the steps 3 and 4 on the other side of the frame.

5. Now you can open the lid that is covering the rotating elements.

6. The rotating elements consist of two parts. Numbers are displayed on the outer parts, and symbols on the inner parts. Remove the outer parts with numbers.

7. Set the inner wheels so that the bottom center symbols and their order match exactly the ones in the photo.

8. Install the outer wheels so that the numbers you need match the marks highlighted in red in the photo. As an example, the number 4 is already set on wheel number 1.

9. Close the lid and Install central blocking element.

10. Put back the protruding side elements, locking them with the small keys which you previously pushed out using the pointy metal object. Important! The marker on the small keys must be facing up, as shown in the photo.

11. Turn the frame over, install the ON/OFF key to secure all the layers of the frame, and rotate the arrow to the OFF position.

12. Insert the key with the plug symbol into the slot as shown and push it upwards. To do so, you have to firmly press the layers of the frame together. If you did everything right, the word "OFF" should appear in the window under the socket.

13. Insert the key with the plug icon into the side hole of the frame.

14. Randomly reposition the lower switches. Ready to go!

In the designated slot you will find the stands that allow you to display your photo on a table or any other flat surface. The frame can be positioned either horizontally or vertically.

You can also store the cover with the frame by placing it in the slots shown in the photo.

Find the lightning symbol.

Start solving the Clueframe here

Use the four big rotating elements to release the key with the lightning symbol.

Move the rotating parts until you find such a combination that the key with the lightning symbol can be pulled out. The parts marked in the photo with blue arrows can be moved forward and backward.

Can you identify where the electrical connection is interrupted?

Insert the key with the lightning symbol into the corresponding slot and align it to ensure a continuous electrical connection. Once done, you should be able to extract another key from the side.

Find the switches at the bottom of the frame. Can you see these symbols anywhere else on the frame?

Same symbols can be found below the small rotating elements on the top of the frame. To set the symbols correctly use the 4-digit code you received as a hint at the beginning (or use the default 1111 code if no hint has been given). When you set the correct numbers, a combination of symbols will appear.

Set the switches according to the symbols in the boxes under the rotating elements. The photo shows the sequence which corresponds 1111 code.

Now the electrical connection is complete. Can you find a slot to "plug in the socket"?

Insert the key with the plug symbol into the slot above the socket and try to push it in. If you did everything right, the OFF symbol will switch to ON.

Turn the frame over.

Move the ON/OFF key to the "ON" position. You can now easily remove it and open the frame.

You can also store the cover with the frame by placing it in the slots shown in the photo.

1. Insert the stands back into their designated slots and assemble the glass and wooden layers.

2. Insert the ON/OFF key, and set the switch to the "OFF" position.

3. Insert the key with the plug symbol into the slot as shown and push it upwards. To do so, you have to firmly press the layers of the frame together. If you did everything right, the word "OFF" should appear in the window under the socket.

4. Insert the key with the plug icon into the side hole of the frame.

5. Return the key with the lightning symbol to its place and move the rotating elements several times to ensure the key cannot be removed.

6. Randomly reposition the lower switches. Ready for the next round!
